USBands ULearn Course exists to serve music programs of all shapes and sizes, to assist in their development, and to recognize excellence in student performance. Our goal is to provide students the opportunity to perform in magnificent venues with constructive, educational feedback with some of the very best adjudicators in marching music. ULearn continues this goal in an online platform.
USBands views the role of the adjudicator as one of service. We ask each adjudicator to begin every performance with a mindset of humility and grace, as it is truly an honor to stand in front of these students while they share their dedication to hard work and the product of many hours of practice over months. We believe this quality of service must be conveyed in every recording and in every critique discussion.
“The mission of Youth Education in the Arts is to support development of young people into magnificent human beings through participation in the performing arts.”
It is important to remember that adjudicators for USBands come from all areas of the country and experience competition in various ways regionally. Therefore, we want to emphasis the adjudicator is the expert who implements the system through the discipline of their caption using points of comparison, supporting commentary and applying the criteria to assigning a number through ranking and rating. It is the adjudicators responsibility to implement the system as the informed expert and to consistently apply USBands adjudication philosophy and service standards.
