WGI Certify Level 200 – The WGI System- Color Guard

In Level 200, the focus will be on Developing basic judging skills. You will develop a fundamental understanding of WGI’s caption-based philosophy, the role of the judge within that system, and the skills required to fulfill that role. You will be introduced to the building blocks upon which each caption is constructed, and will practice recognizing them. You will then be introduced to the content of each caption, criteria reference scales, basic expectations for commentary, and the methods for developing basic recognition and commentary skills. A final exam will confirm your understanding of the content of the course.

Level 200: Introduction to the WGI System courses include:

  • WGI’s caption based philosophy and the skills required.
  • The essential building blocks upon which the captions are constructed.
  • Introduction to caption content
  • Introduction to Analysis and the criteria reference scales.
  • Basic expectations of commentary.
  • Methods for developing your skills.

Upon completion of the 100 and 200 level series, you will have acquired the tools necessary to begin the contest trialing process at an entry level.
